Water is a powerful thing. When unchanneled and allowed to flow free, it becomes a destructive force, overrunning everything in its path. But, when water’s energy is contained within a water jet and focused through a tiny aperture, that same destructive force becomes a precision cutting tool, capable of producing the most exquisite and intricate artistic designs from a solid sheet or metal or rock.

Fire is a powerful thing. When sparked and allowed to burn free, it becomes a destructive force, consuming everything in its path. But, when fire’s energy is contained within a combustion chamber and focused through a nozzle, that same destructive force becomes a powerful rocket engine, capable of taking Mankind to the Moon.

Light is a powerful thing. When shined directly into unshielded eyes, it becomes a destructive force, blinding the sight of the person in its path. But, when light’s energy is contained within a computer-controlled medical device and focused through a laser, that same destructive force becomes a powerful healing tool, capable of reshaping the eye and restoring clear vision.

The atom is a powerful thing. When split through nuclear fission and structured to trigger an uncontrolled chain reaction, it becomes a destructive force, obliterating everything within its massive blast radius. But, when the atom’s energy is channeled within a controlled chain reaction and focused through a nuclear reactor, that same destructive force becomes a powerful source of energy, capable of meeting the needs of millions.

YOU are a powerful thing. Your energy and effort are no different from water, fire, light, and even the atom: capable of destruction, uselessness, or great benefit. Will you allow your energy and efforts to run amok, untrammeled and unchanneled? Or, will you FOCUS it into a narrow beam of production, creativity, and impact? The choice is yours.
